Hello,
💖your beauty universe! This is Uber Plastic Surgery :)💖

Hello, I am Dr. Seo Seung-jo, head director of Uber Plastic Surgery.
Today's video is about contracted noses!!

Q : What is the cause of contracture after rhinoplasty?
Dr. Seo Seung-jo : The main cause is "inflammation."
1. Bacterial invasion during surgery
If there are few bacteria - low probability of contracture
If there are many bacteria and poor physical condition - bacteria adhere to the silicone capsule
* When a foreign substance enters, a capsule completely surrounds the silicone! (To protect against bacterial attacks)
-> The capsule gradually thickens, and as it thickens, the contracture phenomenon occurs.
"Most inflammation occurs almost entirely within a month after surgery."
What about inflammation that occurs a long time after surgery?
1. When the silicone has shifted
Fluid accumulation - fluid builds up causing inflammation - the capsule thickens - leads to contracture
2. When it is caused by the material
Medpor - surrounding tissues enter through the pores -> causes the tissues to become distorted

Q : Is silicone the cause of contracture?
Dr. Seo Seung-jo : NO!
Using materials like Silitex or Gore-Tex, or materials that form less of a capsule, helps prevent contracture.
Q: If I got a contracted nose after inserting silicone, is it okay to remove it and insert silicone again?
Dr. Seo Seung-jo : Let's reduce the volume of the silicone!
(Creating a sturdy pocket using materials like autologous rib cartilage)
Do NOT force in too much silicone.
Silicone's role is to fill empty spaces.
Alternatively, it can be replaced with other materials like dermis or post-auricular fascia.
Q : What is the surgical method for a contracted nose?
Dr. Seo Seung-jo : It depends on the case!
1. Ongoing contracted nose - Remove the foreign substance first, then proceed.
2. Fully progressed contracted nose - Any revision surgery is possible!
