Hello.
💖your beauty universe! I am Dr. Park Sunhee, head director of Uber Plastic Surgery :)💖

Hello, I am Dr. Park Sunhee of Uber Plastic Surgery.
In today's video, I would like to talk about epicanthoplasty!!

Q: Doctor, is the reason for getting epicanthoplasty simply because the eyes are too far apart?
Dr. Park Sunhee: The main purpose of epicanthoplasty is to enlarge the eyes!
We don't perform epicanthoplasty simply because the distance between the eyes is wide.
The primary goal of epicanthoplasty is to increase the size of the eyes!
+ When the eyes appear far apart, it also has the secondary effect of making them look closer together!

Q: I saw a post saying you should never get epicanthoplasty. Could you read it for us?
If you are considering epicanthoplasty, I hope you never do it. The moment you touch the inner corners even a little, your impression changes... I only did it slightly, but my impression became sharp ㅠㅠ
Q: Does your impression really change a lot when you get epicanthoplasty?
Dr. Park Sunhee: It is true that the impression changes, but it doesn't always change for the worse like this!
There are indeed changes because the human face is three-dimensional.
The central area where we perform epicanthoplasty is actually the most flat part of the face.
Because it is right in the middle of the face, even a small change is very noticeable!
While it's true that the impression changes, it doesn't always change negatively, so I disagree!
It depends on the condition of your own eyes; I don't think it's something you should 'never' do!

Q: What kind of eyes will be ruined by epicanthoplasty?
Dr. Park Sunhee: When deciding whether to do epicanthoplasty, you must first trace the double eyelid line.
1. The double eyelid forms well even without epicanthoplasty? -> No epicanthoplasty

2. Measure the distance between the eyes directly.
The average standard for Koreans is 3.3 cm ~ 3.7 cm.
Usually, if the distance between the eyes exceeds 3.7 cm, they may look a bit far apart,
and if it is less than 3.3 cm, the eyes may look close together.
If it is closer than 3.3 cm, I think epicanthoplasty should be done with caution or not at all.
If your eyes easily form an out-fold line when tracing the double eyelid and you choose this line,
it gives the effect of the eyes being extended to the inner endpoint of the out-fold line.

★ If an out-fold line forms well, there is no need to do epicanthoplasty.

What if the shape of the flesh below the lacrimal caruncle is hollowed out and you do epicanthoplasty?
-> Your impression may look fierce.

Q: What if it's an eye that doesn't need epicanthoplasty, but you still want to do it even a little?!
Is it okay to get epicanthoplasty?
Dr. Park Sunhee: It is possible, but I do not recommend it.
It's possible, but since it can't bring much change, it might just feel like you 'did' it...? -> Not recommended

Q: What kind of eyes need epicanthoplasty?
Dr. Park Sunhee: 1. Harmony with the double eyelid is important.
If the double eyelid you want is a refreshing in-out fold, but the Mongolian fold affects the in-out fold line?
-> Epicanthoplasty is OK.
2. You don't want epicanthoplasty, but you want the front part of your eyes to look refreshing? -> This is impossible!
In this case, we consult with each other and show the results of not doing it,
and the results of doing it, so the patient can make a decision.

Most of the concerns about epicanthoplasty stem from two things: scarring after the surgery or looking fierce.
If you look at the process of how the epicanthoplasty scars visible at 1~2 months change after 6 months to 1 year,
I think you will be able to feel reassured.
Regarding the change in impression, check how much of your lacrimal caruncle will be exposed after surgery.
If you check it and feel it would be okay,
consulting with your doctor will allow you to
undergo the surgery with peace of mind.
