Hello~
your beauty universe! This is Weverse Plastic Surgery :)
These days, not only women but also an increasing number of men
are managing their appearance through surgeries and procedures.
Men primarily want to change the size or shape of their eyes.
Because men have different facial bone structures and skin thickness compared to women,
surgeries must be performed taking these differences into consideration.
Rather than very deep and thick double eyelid lines,
men often prefer natural, unnoticeable monolids or inner double eyelids.
The most important thing is to perform the surgery naturally without looking artificial while maintaining a masculine feel.
Today, we will look at a real patient case with photos of someone who had surgery at our clinic.
Incisional Double Eyelid, Lower Canthoplasty

This is a male patient in his 20s who received non-incisional double eyelid surgery and ptosis correction 4 years ago.
He visited our clinic because he wanted to resolve his weak eye-opening muscle strength and sleepy-looking eyes.
Pre-operative Analysis

Patient's Condition Before Surgery
The back line was well-maintained, but the front line was covered, giving the impression that the eyes were entirely covered.
He had a sleepy-looking eye shape with very weak eye-opening strength, causing him to use his forehead muscles heavily.
Q: I want my eyes to look bigger. Don't I need to raise the line to make them bigger?
Raising the line is not the only way to make the eyes look bigger.
We decided to maintain the existing line while making the eyes look bigger through lower canthoplasty.
A: You can make your eyes look bigger with lower canthoplasty while maintaining the existing line.
We expanded the eye shape with lower canthoplasty while maintaining the existing double eyelid line.
Diagnosis and Surgery

Since he didn't want a large line, we decided to slightly raise only the front line,
and because his eye-opening strength was very weak, we expected that a non-incisional method would not provide sufficient correction.
Therefore, we decided to definitively correct his eye-opening strength with an incision + ptosis correction.
Also, since he didn't have much space at the outer corners of his eyes, we decided to proceed with only lower canthoplasty.
Post-operative Progress

This is a progress photo 4 months after the surgery.
The swelling has almost completely subsided, and the double eyelid looks similar to before, but
the front line has been raised, lifting much of the front skin that was covering the eyes, resulting in a refreshing eye shape.
The patient mentioned that his eye-opening strength has improved significantly, making it much more comfortable to open his eyes without using his forehead.
He is also satisfied that his eyes look clear and refreshing just from the lower canthoplasty.
Initially, this patient thought he needed to raise his double eyelid line to make his eyes look bigger,
but we were able to achieve a satisfactory result by maintaining the existing line, slightly raising the front line, and performing lower canthoplasty.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does male eye surgery differ from female eye surgery?
Yes, male and female eye surgeries differ because of variations in facial bone structure and skin thickness, which must be considered during the procedure. Men typically prefer natural, subtle lines such as monolid or inner double eyelid forms rather than overly defined and thick lines, so it is important to design a look that enhances masculine features without appearing unnatural.
Do I always need to raise the double eyelid line to make my eyes look bigger?
No, it's not always necessary to raise the double eyelid line to make your eyes look bigger. By maintaining your existing natural line and combining it with canthoplasty procedures like lateral canthoplasty, you can expand the eye shape without excessively raising the line, creating much clearer and more defined eyes.
What surgical method is suitable if the power to open the eyes is very weak?
If the power to open your eyes is very weak, incisional ptosis correction is more suitable than a non-incisional method. Non-incisional methods may not provide sufficient correction, so it is necessary to perform both incisional surgery and ptosis correction together to firmly correct the strength of the eye-opening muscles, allowing you to open your eyes comfortably without using your forehead.
My eye's outer corner has limited space; is canthoplasty still possible?
Yes, even with limited space at the outer corner of the eye, you can improve your eye shape through lateral canthoplasty. In actual cases where there wasn't much space at the outer corner, only lateral canthoplasty was performed instead of lateral canthoplasty, and this was sufficient to achieve a clear and refreshed eye appearance.
