Hello~
💎your beauty universe! I am Dr. Seo Seung-jo, head director of Weverse Plastic Surgery :)💎
Today, I would like to review a rhinoplasty case.

Before Surgery

This patient's nose appeared slightly deviated.
Because she previously had orthognathic (two-jaw) surgery, her nasolabial angle also looked more sunken.
Additionally, her nostrils were somewhat compressed.
For her desired nose shape, the patient wanted a nasal tip that wasn't too sharp,
preferring a natural, straight-to-slightly-curved (jik-ban) line, similar to the sophisticated nose of actress Kim Yoo-jung.
After Surgery

Looking at the post-operative photos, you might wonder if she even had surgery because it looks so natural,
but in reality, an implant of over 4mm was inserted.
Generally, raising the bridge by 2~3mm is considered a conservative augmentation, but for this patient,
despite raising it significantly, because her midface was previously sunken,
the height increased very naturally without looking artificial.
Looking at the 45-degree and profile views, the dimensional volume of her face has completely changed.
As the nose was elevated, the appearance of a protruding mouth disappeared,
and the illusion of a short midface and long upper face caused by the sunken glabella was also eliminated.
The overall flat appearance has vanished, transforming into a beautifully three-dimensional face.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a sunken nasolabial angle after orthognathic surgery be corrected with rhinoplasty?
Yes, correction is possible. As in the case described in the main text, if the nasolabial angle is sunken and the nostrils appear compressed after orthognathic surgery, rhinoplasty can fill the volume of the midface, improving the face to be more three-dimensional.
If a nasal implant is raised by more than 4mm during rhinoplasty, won't it look too obvious?
It can look natural depending on the patient's facial bone structure. Generally, it is thought that raising it by 2-3mm is less noticeable, but for patients with a sunken midface, using an implant of 4mm or more can still result in a natural-looking higher nose without being obvious.
How does facial three-dimensionality change after rhinoplasty?
As the nose becomes higher, the overall three-dimensionality of the face significantly improves. The feeling of a short midface due to a sunken glabella disappears, and as the nose is raised, the phenomenon of the mouth appearing relatively protruded is also alleviated, improving overall facial balance.
What are the characteristics of a straight-line (Jikbang) shaped rhinoplasty?
It is characterized by giving a sophisticated look without the nasal tip being too sharp. The patient in the main text also desired a natural straight-line shape, and after surgery, a nose line that is not artificial and harmonizes well with the face was achieved.
