Because epicanthoplasty (or upper canthoplasty) and the eyelid line are closely related, in order to achieve the desired line,

it is necessary to perform the appropriate canthoplasty while doing the double eyelid surgery.

In the case of lateral or lower canthoplasty, it is not significantly related to the double eyelid line, but rather changes the overall shape of the eye.
