UBER Plastic Surgery Dr. Seo Seung-jo's Bulbous Nose Surgery Success & Failure Analysis! Is it a case that can succeed with surgery? Let's check the definition of a bulbous nose first!

Hello. This is UBER Plastic Surgery!
Today, along with Dr. Seo Seung-jo,
we will be analyzing the success and failure of bulbous nose surgery!
We will find out what types of bulbous noses there are,
and in which cases surgery goes well
or can be difficult!

A bulbous nose basically refers to a case where
the width of the nasal tip is proportionally wider than the width of the alar base.
The fact that it is difficult to distinguish between the nasal tip and the alar base
can be said to be its biggest characteristic.

The second type is a case that is not actually a bulbous nose,
but is often called one.
It's what we call having a wide nose!
This is when the nasal tip is small, but the alar base is wide.
As a result, whether it is a true bulbous nose or not, if the alar base is wide,
it can be improved through alar reduction.

Then, let's look at various surgery cases together
and find out what types of true bulbous noses there are!

The first type is when the nasal bridge is low, and the nasal tip is also low and spread out,
making it look like a bulbous nose.
For those with this type of nose, surgery is relatively easy.
Even if the nasal tip is large, by raising the tip
and simultaneously pinching the alar base during surgery,
the bulbous appearance disappears!

The second type is when the nasal bridge is high, but the nasal tip is droopy,
making it look like a bulbous nose.
This case is also very simple.
Basically, the method to resolve a bulbous nose involves
removing the internal fat and tying the cartilages together to lift them up.
By simply performing tip plasty to match the height of the nasal bridge,
we can elevate and reduce the size of the nasal tip.

The third type is rare among Koreans.
It is a case where the skin is thin, but the alar cartilages are large, making it look like a bulbous nose!
A cartilage-type bulbous nose, rather than a fat-heavy one,
by properly tying and repositioning the cartilages,
can be easily corrected.

Lastly, there is the type of bulbous nose that people generally consider a "big nose."
This is when the nasal bridge is high, the nasal bone is wide, and the nasal tip is large.
This type is quite difficult to operate on.
This is because a big nose has firm, thick skin and a lot of fat,
so the previously mentioned bulbous nose surgery method (removing fat and tying the cartilages to lift them)
makes it difficult to resolve the thickness of the dermal layer.
The properly tied cartilages and shape are hidden by the skin and cannot be reflected!

Like this, there are various types of bulbous noses!
The more difficult the case, the more important it is
to gather information and set clear goals.
Before surgery, you should fully consult with an expert about what your nose shape is like and to what extent
improvement is possible through surgery. After that,
if you are satisfied with the potential surgical outcomes, you should proceed with the surgery,
but if you feel it won't meet your expectations, it is better not to undergo surgery.

Let's briefly summarize bulbous nose surgery!
First, during the fat removal process,
it is important to remove it evenly considering the possibility of skin necrosis.
Second, during the cartilage reduction process,
it is important to trim it appropriately so that the cartilage acting as the support for the nasal tip is not excessively removed,
preventing a pinched nose appearance.
Third, similarly during the process of raising the nasal bridge,
raising it too excessively can conversely result in an unnaturally large nose,
so it is important to raise it to an appropriate height.

According to Dr. Seo Seung-jo of UBER Plastic Surgery,
the biggest success point of bulbous nose surgery is
an appropriately thin and firm 'skin thickness'!
He says that the possibility of bulbous nose correction is determined by this! ^^
