UBER Plastic Surgery Dr. Seo Seung-jo's Work-Life Balance Story Part 2!

Hello! This is UBER Plastic Surgery. :)

Continuing from Part 1, here is the UBER story!

This is Part 2 of a plastic surgeon's work-life balance.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnqveHxxvX8

What Dr. Seo Seung-jo has to say

about a plastic surgeon's work-life balance,

shall we go listen to the rest of it?

Fifth question! I heard you were a military doctor during your service,

how did you become a military doctor?

After graduating from medical school, required personnel are selected by department.

While doctors in general surgery, orthopedics, and neurosurgery

almost all go on to become military doctors,

the military tends to think that plastic surgery doesn't involve much wound treatment

or fracture surgeries,

but rather simply considers it a department for cosmetic procedures,

so it's not common for plastic surgeons to become military doctors.

Because of this, only about 2 out of 100 people became military doctors,

and Dr. Seo, who was one of them, says there wasn't a special reason,

but he just somehow ended up going as a military doctor!

Sixth question! I'm curious about your work-life balance.

How much do you work?

I work 5 days a week during the off-season and 6 days a week during the peak season.

Since Dr. Seo Seung-jo is the chief director,

handling accumulated administrative tasks and duties besides surgeries

means he finishes late around 9 to 10 PM,

but during the off-season, he gets off work at 7 PM!

In the past, he used to perform surgeries past midnight

and leave work in the early hours of the next day,

but doing so made it difficult to maintain surgical quality.

With the mindset that doing it well is more important than doing a lot,

he tries to avoid scheduling surgeries too late whenever possible~

Last question! How is it now that you've opened your own clinic?

Is it better than before?

As many of you know,

working as an employee has the advantage of stability, but on the other hand,

there are cases where that stability alone is not satisfying.

That is why people end up starting their own businesses.

Since opening the clinic, being able to decide what direction to take the hospital,

and how to perform surgeries—

having the ability to do something self-directed

is what he finds satisfying and enjoyable!

With the positive mindset that

whatever you do, if you are happy, that is happiness,

we shared the UBER story about

a plastic surgeon's work-life balance with Dr. Seo Seung-jo of UBER Plastic Surgery~
