Dr. Seung-jo Seo of Uber Plastic Surgery Explains the Conditions for a Beautiful Face: Check the Golden Ratio!

Dr. Seung-jo Seo of Uber Plastic Surgery explains the conditions for a beautiful face. Check the golden ratio!

Hello! This is Uber Plastic Surgery.

Everyone wants to have beautiful double eyelid lines and a nose just like a celebrity.

However, sometimes patients request a nose shape that might not suit them or eye shapes that are physically impossible!

That is why in today’s ‘Uber Explains’ session, we will not just talk about what makes a pretty eye or nose, but rather what defines a ‘beautiful face’ as a whole.

Before we dive in, let me introduce the celebrities whose photos are most frequently brought in during plastic surgery consultations.

They are Song Hye-kyo, Lee Hyori, Shin Se-kyung, Oh Yeon-seo, Jennie, and Go Youn-jung.

The secret to a beautiful face lies in the common characteristics these individuals share!

When viewed from the front, the ratio of the upper, middle, and lower face is typically 1:1:1. In cases where the lower face is smaller, it ranges from 0.8 to 0.9.

They tend to have a round, egg-shaped face that is neither too large nor too small, with minimal ‘blank space’ outside of the eyes, nose, and mouth.

The ratio between the eyes and the bridge of the nose is 1:1:1, or as narrow as 0.8 in some cases.

Crucially, when viewed from the side, the overall face shape has a three-dimensional, slightly convex feel, creating a harmoniously balanced face.

Sometimes we see people who have had surgery but look somewhat unnatural. If you analyze those faces, you might notice that the ratios are off, the harmony is lacking, or the side profile curves are excessive.

So, what factors should be considered during plastic surgery to create a harmonious face?

For the eyes, it is important to find a line that suits you rather than blindly insisting on flashy, large double eyelids. For the nose, you must consider the three-dimensionality of your face rather than just focusing on height. This is because the perceived height of an implant can change significantly depending on that dimensionality!

The same applies to facial contouring and fat grafting. Shaving off a large portion of the jaw does not necessarily make the face look smaller, and injecting a lot of fat does not automatically create a three-dimensional face.

A beautiful face is achieved only when the surgery is performed considering the harmony between the cheekbones, the head shape, and the original facial features!
