First, if I had my initial surgery using the incision method, does the revision surgery also have to be done with an incision?

​Both the incision and non-incision methods are possible. You just need to be diagnosed and undergo surgery based on the condition of your eyelids.

In particular, if you had surgery with the incision method and the line has simply lowered, we can use the non-incision method to pinch a new line 1~2mm higher to raise it.

It is a great method with a fast recovery.

However, if you want to lower a line that was made too high and unnatural, the revision must be done using the incision method.

On average, how many times can revision eye surgery be performed?

There is no set limit on the number of times.

In extreme cases, some people undergo it up to four times. However, rather than repeatedly operating on the same area,

it is often better to consider improving the eyelid shape indirectly by operating on other areas, such as the eyebrows or forehead.

Is the recovery period for middle-aged revision eye surgery slower than for younger people?

Not at all.

Middle-aged eyelids are often thin and sagging, and such thin skin actually experiences less swelling and recovers faster.

When performing revision surgery, age does not affect the recovery or the results.

Instead, it is influenced by how much skin, muscle, and fat remains in your eyelids.

Why do some people have trouble closing their eyes after revision eye surgery?

​

If you undergo incisional double eyelid surgery multiple times, the repeated removal of skin can lead to a shortage of eyelid skin, making it difficult to close your eyes fully.

Alternatively, if you had ptosis correction surgery, adhesions can form around the muscles that open the eyes,

causing the muscle tension to remain constantly elevated, which can also prevent the eyes from closing completely.

In fact, simply injecting anesthesia into the eyelid skin can make the eyes harder to close.

Therefore, if your eyes don't close fully right after surgery when there is swelling, it is likely due to the swelling and anesthesia.

An accurate assessment should be made after the swelling has completely subsided.

Can people with keloid-prone skin undergo revision surgery?

Keloid-prone skin refers to a condition where scars become raised and grow larger than the original wound area.

This skin type is influenced by ethnicity and the specific area of the surgery.

Keloid scars do not form on thin skin like the eyelids.

Noticeable scars after eyelid plastic surgery are not raised like keloids,

but rather wide and uneven scars, indented scars that look pinched, or scars that have turned whiter than the surrounding skin tone.

Why is it more difficult to lower a line than to raise it?

​

When we open our eyes, the double eyelid always forms along the highest line.

So, when raising the line, the surgery can be performed regardless of the existing lower double eyelid line.

However, when lowering the line, it is more difficult because we must prevent the higher double eyelid from forming.

In this case, it is somewhat easier to operate on someone who has plenty of remaining skin, muscle, and fat tissue,

but the surgery becomes much more complex and challenging if there is a lack of tissue.

I had ptosis correction surgery, so why do my eyes still look sleepy?

It could be because the ptosis correction was not effective during the surgery,

or it could appear that way because the surgical threads gradually loosened after the procedure.

In this case, the eyes may look larger initially after surgery, but gradually return to their pre-surgery appearance over time.

Some people even find their eyes open less than before the surgery due to adhesions in the muscle area.

Usually, if the surgical results remain unchanged and are maintained for about 8 to 9 months, the ptosis correction will not loosen after that.

If your eyes continue to look sleepy, a revision ptosis correction surgery is necessary.

Revision ptosis correction is a more complex and delicate procedure than revision double eyelid surgery.

There are patients who complain of discomfort in their eyes after ptosis correction surgery.

but symptoms caused by issues with the surgical method will not improve even as time passes.

Many people undergo revision surgery for these reasons. While some cases improve depending on the symptoms,

others may not see much improvement, which is why a detailed consultation is necessary before surgery.
