[Uber Plastic Surgery] Pros and Cons of Implant-Free Rhinoplasty: Recommended and Non-Recommended Candidates~

Hello,
This is Uber Plastic Surgery :)
Today, we are going to talk about
implant-free rhinoplasty!
https://youtu.be/6xM2nLWydpo
Let's find out the pros and cons of implant-free rhinoplasty,
and see who is recommended for it and who isn't!
Is avoiding silicone really the best choice?
Let's learn about implant-free rhinoplasty
as explained by Dr. Ko Seung-jo!

These days, many people prefer not to use silicone during rhinoplasty,
so implant-free rhinoplasty using cartilage, autologous tissue, or dermal tissue
is becoming very popular.
However, is implant-free always the best option?
Let's compare the pros and cons of
artificial implant surgery versus implant-free surgery!

The reason implant-free rhinoplasty is preferred
is that, unlike in the past, surgical techniques have advanced,
allowing us to sufficiently correct the height of the nose
even without silicone implants.
Because of this, there is no risk of side effects
caused by artificial implants.

But is it really dangerous to use implants during rhinoplasty?

In the past, techniques for elevating the nasal tip were not as developed,
so L-shaped silicone implants were commonly used.
This could lead to side effects such as the implant protruding through the nasal tip,
which is why many people might think
that implant-related side effects are very common.
However, in modern rhinoplasty with advanced surgical techniques,
except for a very small minority who are incompatible with silicone,
I believe that issues are more related to surgical technique
rather than the silicone itself.

Shall we check the pros and cons of implant-free rhinoplasty?
Implant-Free Rhinoplasty -Pros-1. More natural than using implants.2. No risk of side effects from artificial implants.Implant-Free Rhinoplasty -Cons-1. Difficult to create a smooth line if the surgeon's skill level is low.2. The height that can be elevated is limited.

Just because you want implant-free rhinoplasty
doesn't mean anyone can get it.
The recommended candidates are
those with a dorsal hump who already have some nasal bridge height.
The non-recommended candidates are
those with a bulbous nose and a low nasal bridge.
This is because there are material limitations
when it comes to improving a bulbous nose.

If you get implant-free rhinoplasty,
is there absolutely no risk of infection?
It is not completely zero.
When the nose is opened during surgery,
external bacteria can enter the nasal cavity,
so an infection could occur in the early stages post-surgery.
When undergoing implant-free rhinoplasty,
please make sure to fully understand these precautions
before deciding on the surgery!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is non-implant rhinoplasty?
Non-implant rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that corrects the height or shape of the nose using autologous cartilage, autologous tissue, or dermal tissue instead of artificial implants like silicone. It can reduce the risk of side effects caused by implants.
What are the advantages of non-implant rhinoplasty?
The advantages of non-implant rhinoplasty are that it can achieve more natural results than inserting an implant, and there is no risk of side effects caused by the implant.
What are the disadvantages of non-implant rhinoplasty?
The disadvantages of non-implant rhinoplasty are that it can be difficult to create a smooth line if the surgeon is not highly skilled, and the achievable nose height is lower than when using implants. There are material limitations.
In what cases is non-implant rhinoplasty recommended?
Non-implant rhinoplasty is recommended for cases of a hooked nose (aquiline nose) where the bridge height is already somewhat present. If the bridge height is sufficient, natural improvement can be expected.
Can inflammation occur after non-implant rhinoplasty?
Yes, it is not entirely absent. When the nose is opened during surgery, external bacteria can enter the nose, increasing the possibility of inflammation in the early stages of surgery. It is important to be aware of precautions.
Are silicone implants always dangerous?
No, they are not always dangerous. In the past, L-shaped silicone implants had side effects like piercing the nasal tip, but modern rhinoplasty techniques have advanced, and except for a very small number of people who are incompatible with silicone, technical issues are considered more important.
