There isn't just one type of surgery for drooping eyes!
Upper blepharoplasty, sub-brow lift, or forehead lift: which surgery is right for me?
Hello,
This is Weverse Plastic Surgery!
Today at Weverse Plastic Surgery,
we have prepared a post about surgical methods for drooping eyes!

When looking at surgeries to resolve drooping eyes, there are mainly upper blepharoplasty, sub-brow lift, and forehead lift.
What the differences are between each surgery, which surgical method is right for my eye drooping, and more—
let's take a closer look with Dr. Seo Seung-jo, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Weverse Plastic Surgery.

As we age, forehead wrinkles form, eyebrows droop, and eyelid skin sags, leading to the aging phenomena of the eyes.
Today, we will talk about these aging phenomena and how to resolve them.
Aging Phenomena of the Eyes & Types of Drooping Eye Surgeries
As part of the aging process of the eyes, the eyelid skin sags, which can cause irritation and discharge,
making it difficult to open the eyes, obstructing the field of vision, and for some, creating a fierce or angry impression.
Some people may also feel that they look older than their actual age.
.
Eye surgeries for middle-aged individuals and older require careful consideration because they must improve both aesthetic and functional aspects simultaneously.
If done incorrectly, the impression can become fierce. The solution to this aging around the eyes
is not limited to just double eyelid surgery.
The types of drooping eye surgeries include:
1. Endoscopic Forehead Lift
2. Sub-brow Lift
3. Upper Blepharoplasty
Through these three surgeries, the aging phenomena of the eyes must be appropriately resolved.
First, let's do a self-diagnosis to see which surgery you might need.

How do I self-diagnose the right eye surgery for me?
First, it can be determined by the degree of eyebrow drooping.
If the eyebrows are significantly drooping, an endoscopic forehead lift is required.
If the eyebrows are not drooping much, it can be resolved with a sub-brow lift or upper blepharoplasty.
Then, how can you tell if your eyebrows are drooping or not?
The easiest way for you to diagnose this is that if you have many forehead wrinkles, you can assume your eyebrows are drooping.
This is because we don't usually use our forehead muscles much, but those who use them often
lack strength in their eyes, so they have to use their eyebrows to help open them.
Using the forehead muscles creates many wrinkles above the eyebrows, and if the eyebrows are drooping, many wrinkles will also form on the bridge of the nose.

What are the types of drooping eye surgeries?
1. Upper Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty can create a double eyelid line, correct asymmetry,
remove fat from the inner side of the eyebrow, and perform ptosis correction.
As we age, the eye-opening muscle can detach from the tarsal plate, reducing the actual strength to open the eyes.
In such cases, it is much better to correct the eye-opening muscle through upper blepharoplasty.
2. Sub-brow Lift
A sub-brow lift involves excising skin from just below the eyebrow. By removing the thicker skin area,
it can prevent the eyelids from looking too thick when they fold.
Also, the incision can extend to the outer brow bone, so if the skin on the outer corner is severely drooping,
a sub-brow lift can help shape a beautiful double eyelid line.
Since the downside of a sub-brow lift is that it cannot create a double eyelid line itself,
it is recommended for those who already have double eyelids, or we recommend combining it with at least a non-incisional double eyelid surgery.
※ If the lines are highly asymmetrical, the eye-opening muscles lack a bit of strength, or
if you need to resolve drooping at the front line near the pupil, a sub-brow lift alone is insufficient.
Therefore, when creating a front line on the eye, it is sometimes combined with upper blepharoplasty.
3. Forehead Lift
A forehead lift is mostly done endoscopically by making three or five small holes,
and pulling up and fixing the forehead muscles through the endoscope.
The biggest advantage is that it can lift the eyebrows that droop with age,
and because it can manipulate the frowning muscles, it can resolve wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabella),
with the ultimate benefit of making the forehead a bit flatter and smoother.
※ As a downside, since it does not touch the double eyelids, it is best for those who already have them,
and if not, it can be easily supplemented with a non-incisional double eyelid surgery.

Today, we talked about eye drooping.
We hope you remember that eye drooping is not simply just the sagging of the eyelids.
When there is eye drooping, sagging occurs simultaneously in all areas from the eyebrows down to the eyelids, so please consult thoroughly with a specialist.
