Asymmetrical Eye Surgery: Worried About the Results? Choose Uber Plastic Surgery!

Hello, this is Uber Plastic Surgery! :)
What is the topic for today's "Uber Explains"?
It's "asymmetrical eyes"!
While everyone's eyes are slightly different on each side,
asymmetrical eyes refer to cases where one eye noticeably has a double eyelid crease while the other doesn't,
or both eyes have double eyelids,
but the creases differ in height or length.

Today, we are joined by Dr. Seo Seung-jo of Uber Plastic Surgery
for the asymmetrical eye surgery edition of "Uber Explains"!
We will cover how asymmetrical eye surgery is performed,
what needs to be considered during the procedure,
and finally, whether asymmetrical eyes can be perfectly
corrected after the surgery!

Asymmetrical eye surgery can be done on just one side!
However, to be precise, there are cases where it is possible
and cases where it is not.
In fact, among the patients who visit our clinic,
there are quite a lot of people who want surgery on only one side.

For example, if you have a natural double eyelid on your right eye
and you say, "Please make the other side look exactly the same!"
then we only need to perform double eyelid surgery on one side!
However, one thing to note is that it is better to use a non-incisional method rather than an incisional one if possible.
This is because the non-incisional method can prevent the crease from becoming too deep
or turning into "sausage eyes" (thick, swollen-looking eyelids).

Wait a minute! If your original natural double eyelid crease is faint,
we recommend getting surgery on both sides together. :)

For this aspect as well, there are possible cases
and impossible cases!

During the consultation, when we have you open your eyes and look up,
we can see if the size and position of your pupils are similar.
If your eyes look asymmetrical because you have ptosis (drooping eyelid) on one side,
it can be corrected by removing a bit more skin while creating the double eyelid,
adjusting the height of the crease, or performing ptosis correction
a little more on that specific side.

On the other hand, there are slightly more difficult cases.
This is when there is facial asymmetry.
In cases of facial asymmetry, it's not just the facial contours that are different on each side.
Because the position of the eyes is three-dimensional,
the front-to-back and up-and-down positions can vary,
and the overall placement of both eyes can be different.
If the size and position of the pupils differ due to such facial asymmetry,
achieving perfect asymmetrical eye correction can be difficult.

Since double eyelid surgery is a correction of the skin and muscles,
and not a correction of the pupil size itself,
if the pupil sizes differ due to asymmetry,
or if their positions are different, full correction can be challenging.
However, through double eyelid surgery and ptosis correction,
we can compensate for these issues and make improvements,
so please don't be too discouraged even if you have asymmetry!

What is truly important during asymmetrical eye surgery
is that everyone has a dominant eye.

Depending on whether you use your right eye or left eye more dominantly,
it can have a huge impact on asymmetrical eye correction!
.jpg?type=w800)
If your dominant eye is the right one, and through ptosis correction
your right eye's vision becomes very clear,
you will relatively use your non-dominant left eye less.
This causes the muscle strength in the left eye to decrease,
and as a result, the left eye will droop significantly.
If you are considering asymmetrical eye surgery,
you definitely need to know which eye you primarily use
in your daily life, right?

When performing double eyelid surgery, there are so many things to consider
that you can't even count them all on your fingers!

It might not turn out well. When performing double eyelid surgery,
if the factors to consider are not fully understood,
and the exact cause of the asymmetry
is not properly identified before operating,
the asymmetrical eye surgery can fail.

In today's "Uber Explains,"
we learned about asymmetrical eye surgery.
There really are a lot of things to carefully evaluate!
As such, asymmetrical eye surgery requires you to not miss the key points
among the numerous necessary considerations,
and only by thoroughly understanding them before surgery
can you achieve good results!
