Deciding on the Millimeters Before Rhinoplasty is Useless

Hello,

💖your beauty universe! This is Weverse Plastic Surgery :)💖

Hello, I am Dr. Seo Seung-jo from Weverse Plastic Surgery.

In today's video, I would like to talk about whether the exact millimeters really matter in rhinoplasty.

Q: Doctor, patients often ask about the specific millimeters.

Do you decide on the exact millimeters when performing surgery?

Dr. Seo Seung-jo: That is a very difficult question.

Actually, there is no right answer.

Based on the eyes, 70mm might suit some people,

while 5mm suits others, and 11mm suits someone else.

However, patients often ask for the exact millimeters that would fit them perfectly.

But if they just say, "Please make my nose like this" or "Please make my eyes like this,"

without showing any photos, I cannot give them an answer.

During consultations, we may discuss average millimeters, but the exact millimeters are not important!

The nose is divided into the glabella, the nasal bridge, and the nasal tip. For those who already have their desired slope,

we can just elevate it evenly by the same millimeters.

But for those with a high glabella and a drooping nasal tip, we cannot set a fixed millimeter.

I can let you know the millimeters for the nasal bridge and glabella later on.

However, we do not set a specific millimeter to raise the nasal tip.

Q: Then what does it mean when people say a certain millimeter is appropriate, or when clinics recommend a specific millimeter?

Dr. Seo Seung-jo: Patients always want a simple and clear answer.

Patients always want a simple and clear answer.

And hearing an exact number gives them peace of mind.

Most people undergoing surgery have a lot of anxiety.

For those who want a natural look, we recommend raising it by about 3mm, which gives an appropriate feel without being excessive.

But some people worry, "If it's 5mm, won't I look like an Avatar or a plastic surgery monster?"

That is why I first explain that the glabella, nasal bridge, and nasal tip must be raised by different millimeters,

and then I ask them to show me reference photos.

Dr. Seo Seung-jo: PD, what do you think a 3mm implant looks like? Do you think they are all the same?

I am showing you four different 3mm implants:

1. Gets higher toward the nasal tip (characterized by a low glabella)

2. A 3mm implant suitable for those with a low glabella

3. An implant that is 3mm from start to finish (often used when we plan to carve it down a lot during surgery)

4. An implant that gets lower toward the nasal tip

Because of this, it is difficult to answer when someone asks, "Please insert exactly this many millimeters."

In conclusion, do not obsess too much over numbers,

do not just follow what people say on the internet, and simply bring a photo of the nose you want~

If you bring a reference photo, I will accurately let you know the millimeters and materials needed to achieve that result as closely as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it important to decide on a specific millimeter measurement for nose surgery?

No, deciding on a specific millimeter measurement for nose surgery is not important. It is more crucial to achieve overall balance by considering the individual's facial harmony and the characteristics of each area, such as the glabella, bridge, and tip of the nose.

Why do patients request specific millimeter measurements for nose surgery?

Patients desire simple and clear answers due to anxiety about the surgery, and they tend to feel reassured when given precise numbers. However, this does not guarantee results tailored to the individual.

Should the glabella, nasal bridge, and nasal tip all be raised by the same millimeter measurement?

No, raising the glabella, nasal bridge, and nasal tip by the same millimeter measurement may not be appropriate. Different approaches are needed for each area, such as when the glabella is high but the nasal tip is drooping, and the nasal tip, in particular, is not raised by a predetermined millimeter measurement.

How should I consult to achieve my desired nose shape?

It is best to bring photos of your desired nose shape for consultation. Based on the photos, the medical staff will accurately guide you on the most suitable millimeter measurements and materials to achieve results as close as possible to your desired outcome.

Can the same 3mm implant yield different results?

Yes, even with the same 3mm implant, the results can vary depending on its shape. There are various forms, such as those that get higher towards the nasal tip, those suitable for individuals with a low glabella, and those that are 3mm from beginning to end.
