I believe there are things to consider depending on facial expressions when performing plastic surgery.

Q: If the eyes and nose are done beautifully in the first place, won't the facial expressions become beautiful too?

Dr. Seo Seung-jo: I think the surgery should be tailored to the facial muscles.

However, there are people whose nasal tip drops significantly, people whose mouth corners go up when they smile,

and people whose mouth corner goes up on only one side when they smile. That's why I observe how they speak a lot during consultations.

Since everyone's facial muscle movements are different and they use expressions differently, I believe the surgery should be tailored to their facial muscles.

1. Long Nose

Even with the same long nose, if the nasal tip droops a lot when smiling -> Surgery should be directed to lift the nose more to make it look shorter.

2. Gum Exposure: For those whose gums are not very visible when smiling

Lowering the columella makes the philtrum rise less, making the gums even less visible!!

3. Asymmetry

Looks fine when expressionless, but shifts to one side when smiling.

When the nasal tip is low, asymmetry is not noticeable / Raising the nasal tip highlights the asymmetry.

*In cases of asymmetry, more caution is needed when setting up the strut graft.

Also, in the case of a curved line, the nasal tip is more emphasized, so even a slight movement makes the asymmetry easily visible.

-> Opt for a straight line to make it less emphasized.

4. Outer Eye Corner Shape (The most important thing in eye surgery)

For those whose outer eye corners droop when smiling, keep lower canthoplasty to a minimum if possible!

I recommend lowering it further downwards with lateral and lower canthoplasty!

5. Under-Eye Fat

When under-eye fat bulges out when smiling, and usually 2 under-eye lines form, but in cases where 3 lines form

-> Under-eye fat repositioning

6. Forehead and Glabella Muscles

If fat grafting was done but the forehead and glabella muscles are continuously used - fat engraftment will be poor -> Botox is recommended

*Wrinkles are related to facial muscles
