Hello.
💖your beauty universe! I am Dr. Park Sun-hee, Director of Uber Plastic Surgery :)💖

Hello, I am Dr. Park Sun-hee, Director of Uber Plastic Surgery.
In today's video, I would like to talk about asymmetric eye surgery!!

Q: Director, there are surprisingly many celebrities with asymmetric eyes. Could you take a look and tell us if they need asymmetric eye correction?
Dr. Park Sun-hee:
For Ju Ji-hoon, his inner double eyelids look quite large when he relaxes his eyes!
When he puts strength into his eyes, the inner double eyelids fold in, making his eyes look even bigger than before.
(They look different from time to time)
Q: Aside from Ju Ji-hoon's face, is this a case that requires asymmetric eye correction?
Dr. Park Sun-hee:
The eyes look different, but there is also a difference in facial bone structure.
The height of the cheekbones and brow bones are all different, and everyone has this level of difference!
Since no one has perfectly identical eyes, it is not an asymmetry that absolutely must be corrected.

Dr. Park Sun-hee:
V has a double eyelid on one side and none on the other.
I can't judge just by looking at a photo, but if someone with such asymmetric eyes came in with a concern,
Asymmetric eye correction is possible by doing both sides OR just one side!
-> However, if you look like this, is correction really necessary..? (If you're handsome, you don't need it!)

Q: What kind of asymmetric eyes require correction?
Dr. Park Sun-hee:
Usually, those who come for a consultation have worried deeply about their asymmetric eyes, so they don't approach the surgery analytically.
Because even if we match the length exactly, they can still look different (due to the influence of other facial features!).
When you look at yourself, or when others glance at you without paying close attention,
if the difference between the two eyes is highly noticeable,
and it bothers you, then asymmetric eye correction is performed.
Is a successful surgery one that perfectly matches the length, height, and size of the pupils?
You shouldn't think of it that way!

Q: Asymmetric eye correction, one side vs. both sides?
Dr. Park Sun-hee:
First, if it is determined that asymmetric eye correction surgery is necessary, we must decide whether a simple double eyelid correction or ptosis correction is needed!
1. Cases where double eyelid surgery alone is sufficient
- The opposite double eyelid has no issues
- The opposite double eyelid is not loosening
- You are satisfied with the opposite double eyelid
2. Cases where ptosis correction is necessary
- Often performed on both eyes together

*Hering's Law: If one eye doesn't open well, the brain commands the eyes to open wider to provide more strength. But what if ptosis correction is done on only one eye? -> The brain determines there is no longer a need to widen the eyes, reducing the eye-opening strength, which causes the normal opposite eye to become smaller!
Because various situations must be considered, there are many cases where ptosis correction must be done on both sides together,
but this is not absolute, and it is also possible to perform surgery on just one eye.

#Case of ptosis correction on only one side
- Long-term wear of hard contact lenses
- A case where the eye-opening strength of one eye suddenly weakened, causing a crease above and a significant difference between the eyes
- Male patient -> Did not want double eyelids -> Surgery on only one eye
✅ Day 5: Swelling is not severe
✅ Month 3: There is some asymmetry due to facial bone structure differences, but practically no major difference
* Even in cases of ptosis, there are times when only one eye is corrected,
so it is best to consult with a specialist to see if single-eye surgery is possible.

Q: But if I only correct one eye, I'd be worried that they might become asymmetric again..
Dr. Park Sun-hee:
Since no one's eyes are exactly the same on both sides, they can never be identical even if you focus and analyze them closely.
Rather than looking at it analytically, if the difference between the eyes is not noticeable at a glance,
you can consider them matched. Trying to make them perfectly identical is not an easy task.

Q: Then when is the best time to do asymmetric eye revision surgery?
Dr. Park Sun-hee:
If you had non-incisional surgery, or incisional surgery with only a minor difference between the two sides, it is possible after 6 months.
If there is a major difference (e.g., sausage eyes, a large difference between both sides after ptosis correction, or an unnatural double eyelid depth),
and it needs to be completely changed from the beginning, it is best to do it 1 year after the surgery.
For corrections that require fundamental changes, I often felt that 6 months post-surgery was still a bit too early.
Complex asymmetric eye corrections yield better results when done after 1 year!

Q: It's hard to wait, is early correction not possible?
Dr. Park Sun-hee:
Early correction is possible within a month, but you must ask a specialist whether the asymmetry is due to swelling,
or if it is an asymmetry that actually requires correction.
