Hello~

๐Ÿ™ŒYour beauty universe! This is Uber Plastic Surgery :)๐Ÿ™Œ

Q: There are so many types of lifting, aren't they all the same?

โ€‹

Since COVID-19, the names of lifting procedures have become much more segmented.

If you look at the websites of various clinics, you will see a variety of terms,

so we have organized the concepts of each to help you understand.

First, thread lifting is a method of hooking the skin with threads.

Just like lightly lifting with your fingertips to overcome gravity,

you can think of it as a concept of gently pulling.

For example, you can think of the state of your skin when you lie down as the effect of thread lifting.

โ€‹

Because it is suitable for those who do not need a strong lift,

dissolvable threads are used.

โ€‹

Since thread lifting is a procedure that only hooks rather than fixes,

there is no need to use non-dissolvable threads.

โ€‹

Over time, as the threads dissolve, the collagen tissue left in their place

helps maintain the effect to some extent afterward.

Next, a mini lift is a procedure that involves an 'incision'.

โ€‹

It is a form of fixing to a firm, unmoving tissue,

pulling the SMAS layer upward and securing it.

โ€‹

The fixation is done on the scalp fascia or the fascia in front of or behind the ear,

and if the SMAS layer is still firm,

the lower tissue will follow when pulled from above.

โ€‹

However, if the tissue is too thin, it may tear, so

we recommend it as a more suitable procedure for relatively younger age groups.

โ€‹

Q: Why is the mini lift incision only 1cm?

A 1cm incision is simply a minimal incision

to find the fixation point.

โ€‹

Also, the process of releasing the 'retaining ligaments'

cannot be done with just a 1cm incision,

and it does not carry much meaning.

โ€‹

Releasing the retaining ligaments means cutting the hooked tissue

to pull it more,

but even if you pull a lot, it won't have a significant effect unless accompanied by skin excision.

โ€‹

Sometimes it is stated that 'retaining ligaments are released in a mini lift',

but in such cases, you can consider it a method that actually involves a 4~5cm incision.

โ€‹

At Uber Plastic Surgery, we use the term 'mini'

based on the meaning that the incision is in a relatively inconspicuous location

when performing the surgery.

If the incision is longer than a mini lift,

it is called a partial lift (partial facelift).

โ€‹

In this case, the incision must extend to the front of the ear to allow for skin excision,

and depending on the length of the incision, a larger range of lifting becomes possible.

โ€‹

A longer incision line ultimately means a higher lifting intensity,

and you can expect tissue fixation, fat repositioning, and skin excision to be performed more extensively.

"Midface Lift"

To be precise, it can be called a 'midface fat lift',

and it is a procedure that lifts and fixes the fat above the front cheek in an upward direction.

โ€‹

If this is pulled laterally, the face will only widen, so

lifting it vertically is the key.

Therefore, it is mostly approached using a lower blepharoplasty incision,

and the fat is pulled up from the inside and fixed with threads or Endotine.

โ€‹

Occasionally, it is approached from the scalp

and fixed by inserting a long Endotine,

โ€‹

but in cases of severe cheekbone protrusion,

it may be difficult to pull due to the bone structure,

โ€‹

and the effect may be weakened, so

it is mainly recommended for those with low cheekbones and a sagging midface that gives a long impression.

[Summary]

โœ…Thread Lifting: A lift that 'hooks' with threads

โœ…Mini Lift: An incisional lift that pulls the SMAS layer and fixes it in a 'point form'

โœ…Facelift (Full Lift): An extensive lift that pulls and fixes the SMAS in a 'plane form' and even excises the skin

โœ…Midface Lift: A method of lifting and fixing midface fat vertically
