Hello.
💖your beauty universe! I am Dr. Seo Seung-jo, head director of Uber Plastic Surgery :)💖

Today, I brought a post
about contemplating plastic surgery.
I have a huge complex about my nose. I've thought about getting rhinoplasty, but there are side effects, I'd have to constantly worry about it, and it seems uncomfortable in many ways. People around me tell me not to care so much about my appearance, so I don't know what to do..
Q : I heard that there are many people who want to get plastic surgery
but end up only worrying and not going through with it.
I think that's true.
Because among the patients who visit our clinic,
there are cases where they keep coming just for consultations.
They see many flaws and have concerns about their face,
thinking, "If only this part gets better,"
but they are held back by the thought, "What if something goes wrong?"
and probably the fear of how others will look at them if the surgery goes wrong.

When asked, "Did you get plastic surgery?"
there is a high chance of getting stressed.
That is why there seem to be many patients who want
unnoticeable (natural-looking) plastic surgery.
Actually, among the things patients worry about,
the biggest concern is the side effects of plastic surgery.
Q : Are there actually many side effects after plastic surgery?
It depends on how you
define side effects.
Whether the nose gets crooked and blocked,
or in the case of facial contouring surgery,
sensory nerves are damaged leading to a loss of sensation,
or motor nerves are damaged during a facelift
causing facial muscles not to move,
people consider all of these as side effects.
However, the likelihood of such side effects occurring
is much lower than you might think.
The side effects most patients think of,
in the case of eyes and nose,
are slight asymmetry in the double eyelid lines,
the nose line or tip looking slightly too high,
or dissatisfaction with the shape—they consider all of these as side effects.
If we take all of these into account,
I think the rate of plastic surgery side effects
could be over 10%.
10% in plastic surgery
is actually a very large percentage.
Therefore, I believe it is inevitable for many patients
to worry about the side effects of plastic surgery.

Q : How can one reduce worries about plastic surgery side effects?
The possibility of side effects from plastic surgery is quite low,
but I often see people obsessing over it, getting too stressed,
and worrying constantly.
Taking rhinoplasty as an example,
if a patient is doing well without any issues
up to a year after the surgery,
the chance of inflammation occurring is much lower than expected,
yet they endlessly worry about it.
They keep having negative thoughts
and continue to worry.
For those who have concerns
about silicone (foreign substances),
it might be better to opt for a non-implant surgery without using foreign materials,
or not to proceed with rhinoplasty at all,
which could actually be a better choice.
Among the patients who had surgery,
if their image changes into something they didn't want,
there are also those who worry about it more than necessary.

Because of this,
I would like to advise that you should think very carefully
before making a decision prior to surgery.
When getting plastic surgery,
rather than changing into a uniform look,
your image can change in various ways
that you didn't expect before the surgery.
So it is important to consult
with several doctors,
and I think it is also important to talk a lot
with your family or friends.

Also, looking at many plastic surgery references.
People use Photoshop a lot these days, right?
My opinion is that trying out Photoshop
can also be helpful.
Using Photoshop to see if a certain image suits you
or not.
If you try these things first, I think you might
experience less stress regarding plastic surgery.
