Hello~
🍧Your beauty universe! This is Uverse Plastic Surgery :)🍧

What is Silicone Rhinoplasty?

There are types of silicone specially manufactured for medical use,
and during surgery, we select and use the appropriate silicone
tailored to the patient's individual nose shape.

Usually, the nasal tip is augmented with cartilage,
and to raise the nasal bridge from just above the tip to the glabella,
a surgery utilizing silicone
is called 'silicone rhinoplasty.'
Why Use Silicone Implants for Rhinoplasty?
The reason silicone is the most suitable material
to stably elevate and maintain the nasal bridge is that,
even though other implants have been introduced,
silicone is highly stable,
and if any issues arise, they can be quickly detected
and easily removed.
For example, if you want to significantly raise your nose but have a low bridge,
your face may lack a three-dimensional appearance.
Also, because the nose can look wide and flat from the front,
we use silicone
to elevate the nasal bridge.

If the nasal bridge is low and the tip is upturned,
you must raise the bridge using silicone
to achieve natural harmony;
otherwise, it can be difficult to create the desired shape.

Additionally, even if the nose isn't particularly high,
if the bridge is high but the tip appears droopy,
you can achieve natural results by slightly raising only the nasal tip
while elevating the bridge.
In this case, without using silicone,
sufficient improvement is possible with a non-implant method.
How many millimeters of silicone should be used?

The thickness of the silicone used
varies depending on the patient's nasal condition.
For example, if there is almost no nasal bridge,
inserting about 5-6mm of silicone will still naturally form a bridge.

On the other hand, if the bridge is already high,
adding even 1-2mm can look excessive,
so appropriate silicone usage considering this is necessary.
On average, using about 3.5 to 4mm of silicone
results in a natural nasal bridge height.
What is the lifespan of silicone?

Because silicone does not deform or get absorbed over time,
it is a material that can be maintained for a lifetime.
Of course, while there is no set lifespan,
once silicone enters the body,
a tissue called a capsule forms around it,
which can sometimes lead to micro-inflammation or acute inflammation.
If this inflammation worsens, it may be necessary to remove the silicone
or proceed with revision surgery.
Does silicone have a high probability of side effects?

When using silicone implants,
the probability of side effects such as inflammation or contracture
is very low at 0.23%.
In most cases of revision rhinoplasty,
it is more often due to dissatisfaction with the shape after surgery.
Therefore, side effects from silicone use occur rarely,
and even if they do occur, they can be resolved relatively easily.
Thus, we have explained
rhinoplasty using silicone.
