While Korea's current plastic surgery technology boasts world-class standards,

30 years ago, double eyelid surgery methods were not as developed

towards pursuing the naturalness that we see today.

​

Among those in their 50s and 60s who underwent incisional double eyelid surgery over 30 years ago,

there are quite a few who have been troubled for a long time

by unnatural appearances such as a strong impression or sausage-like lines.

Today, I will share the surgical progress of a female patient in her 70s who had double eyelid surgery over 30 years ago and struggled with an unnatural and strong impression.

In recent years, her eye-opening strength had drastically decreased, causing eye fatigue,

and making it so uncomfortable that she had difficulty reading books.

The patient underwent incisional double eyelid surgery over 30 years ago,

and had lived without any other surgeries or treatments since then.

However, recently, the feeling of not being able to open her eyes fully worsened,

and it became so uncomfortable to read or drive that she planned for a revision surgery.

​

Pre-operative Analysis

At the time of her visit, her double eyelids were high, deep, and thick.

There was an eversion of the eyelashes, which made her semi-permanent eyeliner makeup more visible.

The patient's eye-opening strength was weaker than normal,

and as seen in the frontal photo, the exposure of her black pupils was less than half.

When closing her eyes, they closed well,

and although there was slight hollowing in the upper eyelids,

the use of the frontalis (forehead) muscle was not severe.

Diagnosis and Surgery

This patient required surgery to change her deep,

thick double eyelids with everted eyelashes into natural-looking double eyelids.

Additionally, although her eye-opening muscles functioned normally in the past,

they had gradually weakened over a long period,

and appeared to be no longer functioning properly.

Therefore, it was determined that corrective surgery for senile ptosis was necessary.

As a result, an incisional double eyelid revision and ptosis correction surgery were performed.

7 Days Post-Op

This is the appearance after stitch removal on the 7th day post-op.

There is some swelling, but you can see that the eyes open much better compared to before the surgery.

The patient also felt the improvement in her eye-opening strength,

mentioned that her eye fatigue had disappeared,

and said that her daily life had become much more comfortable.

1 Month Post-Op

The previous eyelash eversion has disappeared, and the thick, deep double eyelids look much more natural.

The patient was highly satisfied with the surgical results.
