Today, regarding aespa's Karina and Winter, who are famous for their beautiful nose lines,
we will look into why their noses look so pretty!
Dr. Shim Jeong-hwan has provided an analysis on this.
First, shall we take a look at Karina's nose??
First is the side profile.
The biggest feature is a nose that is close to a straight line.
There is a slight dorsal hump, the nasal tip looks very slightly elongated,
and the line connecting from the forehead to the nose is in perfect harmony.
Having a slightly receded chin might seem like a minus factor for the side profile,
and a relatively long midface can make one look older,
but the shorter chin actually blends in to create a harmonious balance.
Now let's look at the front profile.
When viewed from the front, the line of the nasal dorsum is clearly visible, coming down straight, and then slightly widening at the nasal tip, creating a pretty shape.
The skin on the nasal tip is thin, allowing the cartilage to show through. Under the lighting, the tip line looks angular, so there is no feeling of a round, bulbous nose,
and the alar cartilages are not flared, so the nose doesn't look wide.
The alar cartilages are not retracted either, so the nostrils are not overly visible from both the side and the front.
Now, shall we take a look at Winter's nose next?
Looking at the side profile first,
the line dropping from the forehead to the glabella has more curvature and a larger angle than Karina's, giving the side profile a more glamorous feel.
The line is a straight-to-slight-curve (jikban) line, where the nose has a slight dip and the tip is slightly higher.
It connects smoothly without bumps, giving a clean impression,
and with a bit more curve to the nose line and a larger nasolabial angle than Karina's, it can be considered a more feminine line.
From the front, the nasal bridge line feels a bit more prominent and defined.
The narrower the width of the nasal bones and the steeper the slope, the more it gives off that impression.
Although the nasal tip is somewhat rounded, it is not large, so there is no bulbous nose feel, and the alar base is not wide, giving a narrow impression.
To summarize the characteristics of the noses they both have,
Winter has a larger forehead-to-nose line and nasolabial angle than Karina, and her nose length is also shorter.
Overall, Karina has a line closer to a straight line,
while Winter can be seen as having a more feminine straight-to-slight-curve (jikban) line.
The nasal bridge line looks more distinct when viewed from below if the width is narrow and the slope is steep.
For example, it will be easier to understand if you think of it as the effect of contouring when doing makeup.
Relatively speaking, Winter's nasal bridge line also has a more distinct feel.
Lastly, regarding the shape of the cartilage at the nasal tip.
The dotted line indicates the position of the nasal tip, and it is expected that Karina's cartilage is
more developed, larger, and has sharper angles than Winter's.
Because the skin is thin, the shape of the cartilage might be showing through.
