Hello~!
💛 your beauty universe! This is Weverse Plastic Surgery :) 💛

We have prepared the 24th Q&A session with Dr. Shim Jeong-hwan! ❤
Today's topic is 'What is the difference between Corner Canthoplasty and Dual Canthoplasty?'.
What is the difference between Corner Canthoplasty and Dual Canthoplasty?
There are many different surgical methods for conventional lateral and lower canthoplasty.
When non-incisional lower canthoplasty is the main procedure and only the skin at the outer corner is slightly adjusted, the eyes often revert to their original state.
When lateral and lower canthoplasty is performed using an incisional method, it can lead to various unsatisfactory results such as scarring, a webbed (C-shaped) deformity, or mucosal exposure.

Corner canthoplasty uses an incision to ensure the effects do not quickly revert, unlike non-incisional methods.
During the surgery, we keep the incision length small, perform thorough dissection, and secure it accurately to minimize the unsatisfactory results often associated with incisional lateral and lower canthoplasty.
We do not artificially pull the lower eyelid down too much. For protruding eyes, it naturally creates a sufficiently opened look downwards.
For deep-set eyes, we may need to adjust the downward angle a bit more or add a conventional lower canthoplasty.
Additionally, through an accurate pre-operative assessment, we check whether the patient has protruding or deep-set eyes, the available space at the outer corner, and the mucosal space that can be extended.
We determine if the patient is a suitable candidate for the surgery and adjust the degree of canthoplasty tailored to each individual.
