Hello~
💎your beauty universe! I am Dr. Seo Seung-jo, Director of Weverse Plastic Surgery :)💎
Today, I would like to review a rhinoplasty case.

Before Surgery

This patient had wide alar bases (nostrils) and a slightly deviated nose,
giving the impression of an overall large and spread-out nose.
They visited our clinic because they felt their nose looked long due to a dorsal hump,
and especially longer when smiling.
Looking at the pre-operative photos, the nasolabial angle is relatively deep,
and the nasal tip appears noticeably upturned from both the frontal and 45-degree lateral views.
✅ Wide and spread-out nose shape
✅ Line imbalance due to a dorsal hump and a slightly deviated nose
✅ Impression of a long nose
✅ The nasal tip appearing longer when smiling
✅ The nasal tip appearing upturned due to a deep nasolabial angle
2 Weeks to 2 Months After Surgery

Up until the 2nd week, which is the early post-operative period, the nasolabial angle may still appear prominent,
leaving a slight impression of an upturned nose.
However, looking at the 2-month mark, you can see that the nasolabial angle has naturally settled inward,
the nasal tip is positioned much more stably, and the overall impression has softened.
✅ Naturally corrected nasolabial angle
✅ Stabilized nasal tip with a reduced upturned appearance
✅ Improvement of the excessively long-looking nose
✅ Smooth and naturally refined lateral profile line
✅ Completion of an overall well-balanced nose line

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a bulbous nose and a hooked nose be corrected simultaneously?
Yes, simultaneous correction is possible. According to the case review in the main text, there is a case where a bulbous nose with wide and spread nostrils, a hooked nose, and a slightly deviated nose were all surgically corrected together to improve the overall balanced nose line.
Can a nose that appears long when smiling also be improved with rhinoplasty?
Yes, it can be improved through surgery. A patient with a hooked nose and a deep nasolabial angle, whose nose appeared longer and the tip seemed upturned when smiling, showed results where the excessively long appearance of the nose was naturally corrected after surgery.
When does the feeling of an upturned nose tip disappear after nasolabial angle correction surgery?
It usually improves naturally around 2 months after surgery. In the early stages after surgery, up to 2 weeks, the nasolabial angle might be prominent, making the nose appear upturned, but after 2 months, as the nasolabial angle settles, the nose tip becomes much more stable.
How does the side profile change after surgery?
The side profile becomes smooth and naturally refined. As the unbalanced line caused by a deep nasolabial angle and a hooked nose is corrected, the upturned appearance not only from the front but also from the 45-degree side view is reduced, and the overall impression becomes softer.
