Hello~

Your beauty universe! This is Wevers Plastic Surgery :)

Q: Lifting recommendations by age group!

✔️ Early 20s

Laser treatments ultimately aim to create elasticity, and in the early 20s, the skin has sufficient elasticity to recover.

For those seeking management, I recommend skin boosters or very simple laser treatments. If you have significant hollowing in the temples, forehead, or cheeks, fat grafting can be a very good alternative.

Q: What kind of lifting is recommended for the mid-20s and beyond?

✔️ Mid-20s

From the mid-20s, slight sagging begins. At this stage, many people opt for laser lifting or thread lifting.

For reference, thread lifts typically last no longer than 1.5 years. There are no cases where they last longer than that.

They lift and hold sagging cheeks, and the collagen in the threads creates tightness, so it should be viewed as a management area.

In the case of a double chin, the muscle itself often sags, and the fat inside the muscle also droops. In such cases, we recommend double chin muscle tightening or liposuction.

✔️ 30s

The 30s are when localized sagging starts to appear.

Localized sagging means that the amount of skin sagging on the face is not extensive, so even a slight pull can restore elasticity.

You can see effects with lifting lasers, and also significantly with thread lifts.

You can also achieve results with a mini-lift, which involves making small incisions behind the scalp or ears to pull and secure the SMAS tissue inwards.

✔️ 40s

Sometimes, as the skin sags, the underlying bone structure becomes visible. In such cases, it may be necessary to add significant volume to the face or to pull the skin.

In these situations, laser lifting like Ultherapy might not show effects, and thread lifts can also be difficult to achieve results with.

Therefore, in the 40s, it might be necessary to consider a mini-lift (mini-facelift) or a facelift procedure that provides a strong pulling effect, such as a partial facelift.

If you opt for laser lifting, I recommend high-frequency lifting lasers that improve skin elasticity.

✔️ 50s

For those with significant sagging due to reduced skin elasticity, we recommend a full facelift (+fat grafting).

For those with less sagging, we recommend a lifting procedure with a surgical approach that narrows the incision range for a partial facelift.

✔️ 60s

This is the age group where full facelifts are commonly performed.

However, the most important factor at this stage is overall health.

Since a facelift involves a larger surgical area, the patient's physical health significantly impacts the surgical outcome.

Conditions like high blood pressure can lead to excessive bleeding during surgery or uncontrolled blood pressure post-surgery, which can drastically alter the results.

Furthermore, from the 60s onwards, sagging is not just localized but affects the entire face. If only the sagging areas are pulled, the remaining skin can become uneven and wrinkled.

Therefore, we recommend consistently receiving high-frequency-based laser lifting for skin elasticity or continuously managing skin elasticity with skin boosters.

(However, thread lifting is not recommended.)

Ultimately, the most important thing in lifting and anti-aging is that ‘skin elasticity must be consistently managed’.

- Summary -

✅ Ultrasound-based lasers, skin boosters, and sun protection are naturally part of consistent daily care.

✅ When localized sagging begins, address it with thread lifting or mini-lifting.

✅ When overall sagging begins and significant hollowing occurs, a facelift is necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm in my mid-20s, what lifting procedure is suitable for me?

Laser lifting or thread lifting is recommended. From your mid-20s, sagging gradually begins, so it's good to use thread lifting to lift sagging cheeks and induce collagen production. If a double chin is a concern, muscle banding or liposuction can be effective.

How long does the effect of thread lifting usually last?

It usually lasts for about a year and a half at most. It's rare for the effects to last longer than that, so it's best to think of it as an area of continuous management, utilizing the tightening effect from the collagen included in the threads.

Is thread lifting effective for skin sagging in the 40s?

No, from the 40s onwards, it may be difficult to see significant effects with thread lifting or general lasers alone. As this is a period when the skin sags and the bone structure becomes more prominent, methods that directly pull the skin, such as mini-lifting (mini facelift) or partial facelift surgery, are more suitable.

What should be considered when undergoing a facelift at age 60?

The overall health status should be checked first. Since the surgical area is large, if there are underlying conditions such as high blood pressure, it can significantly affect the surgical outcome due to bleeding or blood pressure control issues. Also, thread lifting is not recommended for people in their 60s.

How is mini-lifting performed to address partial sagging in the 30s?

It is performed by making a small incision in the scalp or behind the ear. This method involves pulling and fixing the inner SMAS tissue through the incision, and it is a very effective surgical method for restoring elasticity in people in their 30s who do not have a large amount of skin sagging.
