Hello~!
Your beauty universe! This is Weverse Plastic Surgery :) ❤

We have prepared the third Q&A session with Dr. Shim Jung-hwan! ❤
Today's topic is about the 'hump nose'.
Is osteotomy mandatory for a hump nose?

A: No, it is not.
Osteotomy may only be necessary if the hump is severe.
A dorsal hump consists of a bony part and a cartilaginous part.
The cartilage part is excised, and the bone part is shaved down if it is mild, or requires an osteotomy if it is severe.

If a large amount of the upper bone is shaved down, it creates an open roof, meaning the roof of the nose is left open.
In such cases, a lateral osteotomy is required to close the roof.
Additionally, the nasal airway may become narrow, making breathing uncomfortable, so performing a spreader graft using cartilage
to prevent the airway from narrowing may also be necessary.
