Do you decide on the exact millimeters when performing surgery?

Dr. Seo Seung-jo: That is a very difficult question.

Actually, there is no right answer.

​

Based on the eyes, 70mm might suit some people,

while 5mm suits others, and 11mm suits someone else.

​

However, patients often ask for the exact millimeters that would fit them perfectly.

But if they just say, "Please make my nose like this" or "Please make my eyes like this,"

without showing any photos, I cannot give them an answer.

​

During consultations, we may discuss average millimeters, but the exact millimeters are not important!

​

The nose is divided into the glabella, the nasal bridge, and the nasal tip. For those who already have their desired slope,

we can just elevate it evenly by the same millimeters.

​

But for those with a high glabella and a drooping nasal tip, we cannot set a fixed millimeter.

​

I can let you know the millimeters for the nasal bridge and glabella later on.

However, we do not set a specific millimeter to raise the nasal tip.

Q: Then what does it mean when people say a certain millimeter is appropriate, or when clinics recommend a specific millimeter?

Most people undergoing surgery have a lot of anxiety.

For those who want a natural look, we recommend raising it by about 3mm, which gives an appropriate feel without being excessive.

But some people worry, "If it's 5mm, won't I look like an Avatar or a plastic surgery monster?"

That is why I first explain that the glabella, nasal bridge, and nasal tip must be raised by different millimeters,

and then I ask them to show me reference photos.

I am showing you four different 3mm implants:

1. Gets higher toward the nasal tip (characterized by a low glabella)
