Today, I'd like to talk about a similar topic.

‘Can I sleep on my side after nose surgery?’

A splint is typically worn for about 6-7 days after nose surgery.

This is to minimize swelling that may occur after surgery

and to fix any implants placed in the nose.

During the period you are wearing the splint, it is okay to sleep on your side.

However, if you are comfortable sleeping on your back, facing the ceiling,

it is best to sleep with your head and back elevated.

Also, if you had surgery using ear cartilage,

and are wearing a splint after rhinoplasty,

your nose will be blocked, forcing you to breathe through your mouth.

When breathing through your mouth, your throat may feel sore, and your mouth and lips may become dry.

Using a humidifier to adjust the humidity can be very helpful.

However, once the splint is removed, there is nothing to fix the nose in place,

so from this point on, you should sleep on your back, facing the ceiling,

to help your nose shape settle.

The period for sleeping on your back is a minimum of 2-3 weeks, and during this time,

we strongly recommend sleeping in a straight position.

‘Positions to avoid after nose surgery’

After surgery, the operated area is weakened,

and you must be careful until it fully recovers.

Among these, there are positions you should avoid,

which are bending your head forward or lying on your stomach.

These positions cause blood to rush to your face,

so it's best to avoid them. When washing your hair, it's also good to tilt your head back👏

‘What about washing my face?’

After the splint is removed, you can wash your face with water.

Instead of vigorously rubbing your face,

we recommend gently rubbing the surgical area to avoid strain.

If you are still wearing the splint, you can use a wet towel or toner

to gently wipe your face.

‘When can I start exercising?’

Light walks are fine.

However, for strenuous exercises (aerobics, weightlifting, boxing, etc.)

that make you breathless or require excessive physical exertion,

it is best to start after one month post-surgery.

‘I have poor eyesight and wear glasses. Can I wear them after surgery?’

Yes, you can.

However, the nose pads of your glasses should be at least 13mm (slightly wider than the diameter of a three-color ballpoint pen).

If you have an implant in your nose, the nose pads should be wider than the implant's width.

If osteotomy was performed, wearing glasses is recommended after 15 days.

Today, we've looked in detail at precautions after nose surgery.
